Codemasters also took time to add in new attacks and defensive maneuvers with KERS and DRS available for racers to use. Able to play in all these ways and experience cars, stars, and race tracks of the FIA Formula One World Championship, F1 2011 was fantastic for F1 fans at the time, and can still be great for F1 fans wanting some reflection into the past of F1 racing. Features that no other Formula 1 game had yet, like split-screen, co-op championships, and online play with up to 16 players, F1 2011 was the most competitive and up to date F1 game at the time. Gameplayį1 2011 has nothing impressive by today’s standards, but for the time, it actually was a great predecessor for the coming F1 2012 through F1 2020. So, while F1 2011 does not have special, state of the art graphics in it, it is still impressive for the time, making it clear that great effort was put into the game. The developers even took time to ensure that cars had sponsorships printed on them, individual fans were put into the stands, and the pavement of the race track had texture. VisualsĪlthough F1 2011 is an older game, it still has impressive visuals, giving clear depictions of racers, their vehicles, the tracks, and being very detail-oriented with every piece along the way. The game development company Codemasters, however, attempt to give a slight taste of this thrill in F1 2011, mimicking real F1 races of the year. It is out of the picture for many, since F1 racers go through years of intense training without ever being in the car, and past that, only a select few ever get to experience the true thrill of driving the cars. For many speed demons out there, F1 racing is the pinnacle of speed that all wish to achieve.
